Results of a Workflow Study Time of Controlled Substance Waste

John Hertig, PharmD, MS, CPPS, FASHP
Vice-Chair and Associate Professor
Butler University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences

Unnecessary controlled substance waste has so much more cost associated with it than just the wasted med itself. John and his team have conducted a time study to evaluate costs associated with controlled substance waste. The results quantify significant costs many of us may know in theory must exist but have never put numbers to. Join us as John shares the findings and encourages facilities to use the published methods to conduct their own workflow time studies as the basis of change within their organizations.
